Michael Farrell

Michael Farrell debuted his first feature film score, Hell Baby, at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival with Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (Reno911!). Since then, he has composed the original music for Comedy Central's hit late night show, @Midnight, starring Chris Hardwick. Other composing credits include: Blunt Talk on Starz starring Patrick Stewart, Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer, and the documentary Kelly's Hollywood, including a collaboration with Australian Sony recording artist Lenka.  


As a songwriter, he has written with groundbreaking indie rock legend Morrissey for his album Ringleader of the Tormentors. Other songwriting partners include Grammy winner and soul artist Macy Gray (with will.i.am producing), and Australian star Ben Lee. Michael toured with Morrissey from 2004-2008 and worked on a number of his recording projects, including the platinum You Are The Quarry, Ringleader of the Tormentors, Swords, and Live at Earl's Court.   


In 2015, Michael joined the house band playing keyboards and trumpet for the Emmy-award winning NBC hit Hollywood Game Night. He also completed a 2015 tour as a keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist for the multi-platinum Canadian artist Sarah MacLachlan. He has toured as a multi-instrumentalist for Alanis Morissette, Macy Gray (musical director), Richie Sambora, Vanessa Carlton, Daniel Powter, Rita Wilson, V.V. Brown (musical director), and Mariah Carey.   


In recent years, Michael has worked as an associate musical director for NBC's America's Got Talent, Fox's American Idol and The X Factor, and ABC's Dance War. His duties included on-screen performing, arranging, and recording and production of live tracks as well as coaching contestants. Other recording or live clients include Anastacia, Five For Fighting, Thompson Square, Patti LaBelle, Ennio Morricone, 311, Jewel, Vanessa Hudgens, David Hasselhoff, and the Radio City Rockettes.
